Who sells the most handset/handphone?

Who sells the most handset or handphone (can be smartphone or dump phone :P ) from 2001 to 2010?

Vision Mobile has gather some information and put it into a nice picture call infographic. Surprisingly (to me), Nokia still the top selling phone, this could be because of Nokia has very wide range of phone (a lot of dump phones!) and it market to lower income country. Siemen and Motorola has been kick out of top 5 in recent years. Click the picture to see it in full size if it looks too small on your screen.

What brand of phone have you used? Or do you still using your very first phone? Tell us. :)

hack and access any webcam?

Can we hack and access any webcam that is hook up to internet? Well, according to this guy he claim that he can, see the video after the jump:

The truth is YES, it can be done, but you have to get through the firewalls, etc etc. So the method is just working for webcam that is open to public. Go ahead, give it a try:

Just put this line in google.

Keep safe your password

How many password do you keep? ATM? Email? Blogging account? Online banking account? Online share/forex trading account? Many more...... I have been using KeePass not too long after I bought my HTC Touch Elfin 2 years ago and have been using it until today. I got all my password in there, well almost all......

The good thing about KeePass is I can transfer the same file from my WinMo to PC and vice versa. So I can update the password using my PC or Winmo.

I do believe you can do it for any other OS and smartphones because it supports many platforms:
1. Windows Mobile (still supporting it! Thank you!)
2. Windows Phone 7
3. iPhone (and iPad, if you don't mind the weird UI that don't fix iPad)
4. Android
5. JAVA (meaning even your phone is not smartphone, as long as it support J2ME, you can use it!)
6. BlackBerry
7. PalmOS
8. Linux
9. Mac OS X
10. last but not least, Windows

You can choose to have a installed version for Windows or portable, meaning you can carry it on your USB thumb drive!

It supports AES and TwoFish, so you don't need to worry it will easily crack by hackers. Well, unless you are very special person who hold super secret password to super secret facility that your enemy country want to very badly. :P

Best of all, it is FREE!

Hacking video screens in Times Square

It is very expensive to advertise at Times Square, NY, or any other metropolitan, so someone come out any idea to hack or override the signal feeding into the big screen.

See the video, and no it is not fake, it is real.

This is not really magic, as long as his device is powerful enough to override what is actually feeding into the screen, he can override the signals and make the screen show his video. Also he need to make sure it is same frequency, otherwise the screen will not receive it.

Task Manager using MS Excel

MS Excel can do lots of amazing things beside drawing beautiful charts. Didier Stevens wrote a macro script to make excel become a Task Manager.

After download the zip file, unzip the file and open it with MS Excel. Depend on your excel setting, but usually it will have a security warning saying "Macros have been disabled". You have to turn the macro on, otherwise nothing will happen when you press any of the button on this excel file. To enable this macro, click the "Options" button next to the "Macros have been disabled" msg, another windows pop-up and give two options, select "Enable this content" and click OK.

Click "List processes" button, and you can start to see the macro listed out the processes running on your laptop/computer.

I like the suspend and resume function, because I use suspend and resume processes a lot on UNIX/LINUX. It is good when you want to debug something and/or just the the process to stop for a while but you don't want to kill it. Of course we can change the priority using the default task manager that come with windows, but sometime it if not effective.

To suspend a process, put a "s" on Command column next to the process and then click "Execute commands". To resume back a suspended process, put a "r" on the same box and then click "Execute commands" again.

Download version 0.3 here:

Wow, a BIG "thank you" to you all for keep on coming back to my blog. Now I have over 20k pageview [according to blogger] and over 10k clicks [according to sitemeter].

I was at 15k pageview on Dec last year:

And 10k pageview on Nov last year:

Free ringtones and games for phone

Yikes, I only found out recently there is a website for us to download free ringtones, games, wallpapers, video and txt (sms) for free for phone. Well there should be more than one website doing that, but I like this website for a few reason.

1. The free stuffs uploaded by users, so you can get as many stuffs as possible.
2. Customize the website to find the stuffs that suites your phone.
3. Download directly from phone [read this: telco charges and some other charges applies!] [download to PC is free, so I download the ringtones and etc to my PC first and then copy to my phone]
4. It even offer to create the ringtones, wallpapers and themes on the website and you can publish it to the world wide web! [registration require]

Opps... I forgot to put the website link, here you go [zedge.com link]

Warning: this website contains adult stuffs, make sure you don't get caught by your manager if you surfing/downloading from this site. I am not responsible for anything and anyhow if you surf it. :P
It has a filter call family filter, when you turn it on, it should be adult free. :D

p/s: I don't get any incentive (a.k.a. money) from this website. Click on the ads on this blog to support me. :)

What is Problem Steps Recorder?

A picture is worth a thousand words. This is always true and cannot be more true. :D
Say what if you have software or hardware problem on your Windows 7 system but the more you explain, the audience just could not understand what you mean. The audience could be your IT guy, or your buddy, or your bf/gf/family who trying to help from other end but just could not understand your problem.

You can either make a video of it, but it might be too complicated for most of the people. And you need to find a software for that. So how?

Fear not, Windows 7 now come with a tool call "Problem Steps Recorder" (I call it PSR from now on).

So whenever you have a problem, launch the PSR. [Windows start button then type "PSR" in the "Search programs and files" box, next select psr.exe or "Record steps to reproduce a problem"]

When the tool appears (image showed above), click "Start Record". It might advise you to run it as administrator, just click okay to proceed. [use it in case you have problem recording program that run with administrator permission. Personally I haven't find any problem by not running with administrator. ]

Now start reproducing the problem you have. PSR will record each of the click you performed. You will notice there is a small red dot blink whenever you click.
Click "Stop Record" when you are done. It will ask where do you want to keep the zip file, select your path and file name and then click OK. The zip file actually contains the .mht file.

To review your .mht file, unzip it and double click it, your browser should be able to view the file. You can see the snapshot (print screen) of the clicks you performed. Click on the picture will bring up bigger picture.
There is a text box below that recorded additional details of the clicks.

PSR is very useful for training. If you have to show/train people on a software or task, you can use PSR to record the steps and share it to whoever that wanted to know. Ask the person to get back to you only if they still have question. If your PSR is detail enough, I think you can saved a lot of time from showing/train/explain the same thing to different person.

What is still missing from iPad2?

Okay, you might seen this video being sent to you by your friends/co-worker/brothers/sisters/family/neighbor/strangers ( :P ).
http://outdatedpenanguncle.blogspot.com/2011/03/ipad2-video.html
So what is still missing from iPad2?

1. SD card slot!

Mmm..... why Steve didn't listen to me? I need a SD card slot on the god damn iPad2! Even Sony have to give up on their memory stick and go to SD for their latest digital camera. So if I have a SLR, I have to copy the photos to my laptop/mac and then transfer it to the iPad/iPad2? 2 Steps!

2. 4G
High tech gadget without latest connectivity? I have to hook it up to external dongle or something to do 4G. Steve, are you keeping it for iPad3?

3. Dependency to iTune
Why Steve why do I have to hook it up to iTune to do update? Why if I don't have a laptop/mac/pc/desktop? Learn from Android Steve my good man.

4. Gorilla glass
Do you know that you wouldn't get a scratch if you hammer the screen of Samsung Galaxy Tab? Why you don't have it on iPad2 Steve? Why? The smart pad looks lame btw.
Learn more about gorilla glass here.

5. Retina screen
You have it on iPhone4, why not on iPad2? Steve, do you keep it for iPad3?

6. Screen resolution
No upgrade from iPad1, so you still get 9.7-inch, 1024×768 pixels. Lame!

But why iPad still a success and I think iPad2 still a big time for this year, why? Because the apps. Admit it, without the cool apps, iPhone and iPad just a lame product. :D
