Digital photo for the future

Someone at lytro created this technology, you can change the focus to any place of the photo. So called life photo, because for conventional photography (either film or digital), the photo is fixed once it is being capture on film or memory card (well, unless you photoshop it).

There is another one for you to play with after the jump. Click read more.

To summaries, it is like manipulating the light field and make the photo become alive. Well, sort of, go to link below to find out in detail. :)

For more example, go to http://www.lytro.com/picture_gallery

Irfanview is my favourite photo viewer

Irfanview is always my favorite photo viewer. Why? Because it is fast and very light weight. While some photo viewer software claim that they can view so and so format, I don't like most of them trying to take over my Windows settings and boy I hate that. Also you need to pay a fee to use some of them legally.
With less than 10Meg (including additional plug-ins), I can view 99% of the photos and video and flash video using Irfanview. And I always like to see the EXIF data of photo that I view. With just typing "e" while viewing photo with Irfanview, I can see the EXIF instantly!

I am too lazy to print screen, so just go ahead to the Irfanview website to download the latest version 4.3 and install it. Remember to download and install the plug-ins as well.

If you like portable version, download from PortableApps.com.

Something on Google Maps you should see

Arg...... Monday again! To cure your Monday blue, there is something you should see at Google Maps. We have seen many special stuffs on Google Maps, but this one will blow your mind away! Click read more to find out......

A ship on Google Maps? Yes, absolutely correct, a ship.

World Discoverer, a cruise ship originally built in Germany (year 1974) on Sunday April 30, 2000, 4pm local time, hit a rock that was not in the Solomon Islands charts. Since it is (the ship) too big, the people just left it there and Google Maps pick it up. If you don't believe me, go ahead click on the Google Maps link below:

Nokia X7 - review

It is another busy week for me, so I am just going to post some video that I grep from WWW. Should have change my blog title to to "outdated and lazy Uncle" :P
Anyway, Nokia is trying very hard to compete to other smartphone manufacturer, but somehow still lagging behind. See the Nokia X7 review video after the jump to find out how. Boy, I look at the spec at gsmarena and it really an outdated stuffs Nokia put in it.

Why do I say it is bad smartphone design, coz it is running Symbian Anna OS with 680 MHz ARM 11 processor. That is really slow! However Nokia compensate it with a very good quality build.

Nokia X7 Unboxing review:

Nokia X7 Hardware review:

Note: incredible slow power up at time 6:45!

Nokia X7 Software review:

Note: super slow web page loading at time 11.55!

Video sample of Nokia X7

So what do you think? Nice or not? Probably you want to get it because of you like Symbian so much.
I still going to get Samsung Galaxy S 2 or HTC Sensation. :D

Samsung Galaxy S 2 screen problem?

Not too long ago this GS2 is my dream phone, see this and this to find out why. But somehow there is always a fault finder in this world. More detail after the jump......

A members from XDA found out that there is a display problem on GS2, that there is a yellowish on left side of the screen if you turn down the brightness of the GS2.
Detail at XDA forum.

I hope Samsung would quickly fix this problem at least on new device have haven't come out from the factory. But do hope also that Samsung would replace for anyone that own this GS2 with a new and fixed screen of GS2. Anyway, I don't think GS2 users will notice the problem unless they use the phone in dark all the time with low brightness. I am still gonna get this phone if I strike a lottery. :P
Just my 2 cents.

Update: To check the hardware functionality of Samsung Galaxy S 2, do this:
1. Bring up dialpad.
2. Key in *#0*#.
3. LCD TEST application will be loaded.
4. Test SUPER AMOLED Plus display in red, green, blue, white and black colour. Make sure that your AMOLED screen has a perfect colour.
5. Can also test the front and back camera functionality.
6. Test sensors like accelerometer, proximity, lights, gyroscope and magnetic sensors.
7. Test the touch screen sensitiveness, etc.
