Brand New Hotmail

How long ago that you last login to your Hotmail account? Can't remember? Now it is the time to take a visit!

Very clean and very metro feel. Looks like Microsoft want to make everything Windows 8 look, including the email service. Okay, I have to black-out some part of the windows to avoid spam! :)



Here is the zoom-in when you click the setting button. There are 12 colors you can change to, blue is the default I believe. You can change the reading pane location or turn it off. Also you can switch back to the old hotmail, but I don't think most people will do that.


When click on the "More mail settings" on the setting, here is a bunch of additional settings you can do with it.


FYI, if you login to hotmail.com, you still get the old hotmail. You have to go to this link to get to the new hotmail. And yes, it is Outlook, not hotmail anymore.

Phishing email again

I am getting phishing email again (previous phishing email), this time the email is faking CIMB bank. See print screens after the jump:
Print screen from my gmail, even they fake the sender to be called clicks@cimb.com.my. People that being panic would click to the link and give out they confidential information.

I want to see how do they fake the website, but FireFox already block it, nice work FireFox!

Too bad this website already being reported to authority and it has been suspended, otherwise I can print screen the fake CIMB website.


People, please be careful. Do not response to any of the email the requesting us to key in our account id/name and password. Please call to bank to confirm such request, and also do not call to the phone number listed in the email, they will fake a bank call center to trick us to give the information they wanted. Just google the real bank website and find the phone number and call. If still in doubt, just call the authority.

Junk mail from Hotmail team

My first email was with hotmail. I remember that first time I got into internet, the first thing I did was to open up a hotmail account! Well, time fly and this hotmail become a backup email only ever since I start using gmail. It was because hotmail was offering 100M or 200M of storage (READ: OFFER, gotta be joking) and my friend recommended gmail, which was 1G at that time.

Okay, fast forward to present, did hotmail ever improve? The storage have improved, I mean with skydrive, you get 25G! Not bad huh! But but but, today I was checking the hotmail, and I saw the only mail in junk folder is this one. Email from Hotmail team ended up at junk mail, pretty effective huh?

Keep emails and attachments on Storage Card for PPC

Free up your PPC device/internal memory by storing emails and attachments on storage card. The default setting on PPC is to store emails and attachment on internal memory, this create problem when you have a lot of emails and big attachments, it will eventually used up all the internal memory on your PPC.
As we know for PPC, the internal memory is limited to 64M(older PPC)/128M/256M(newer PPC), even you have 512M internal memory, it is still limited (sharing with other programs/files as well).
Okay, for PPC with build-in extended memory like Omnia, you should be fine, but I am not sure the default setting on Omnia is to store emails/attachments on device memory or extended memory (Too bad my brother sold his Omnia few month back, else I can check, if you know, please share with me :) )

Here are the steps:
1. Using the file manager in activesync or PPC (like Total Commander), create the following folders on your Storage Card.

\MAPI
\MAPI\ATTACHMENTS

Or you can name them whatever you want, "Inbox" or "Emails" for example.

2. Now browse to \Windows\Messaging (SmartPhone) or \Windows\MAPI (PocketPC)

Do this step only if you want to save all of your existing mail, move everything in this directory to the new ones on your Storage Card. I sync my emails from PC to PPC, so I don't need to keep them (I skip this step).

3. Now use your registry editor (again, Total Commander can do this job) and navigate to the following registry:

For WM5 Phones: [ HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\MAPI ]
For WM6 Phones: [ HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\Inbox\Settings ]

Then create the following STRING VALUES. Remember to use the paths you created in Step1, if you named them other than MAPI.

Name: AttachPath
String: \Storage Card\MAPI\Attachments

Name: PropertyPath
String: \Storage Card\MAPI

4. Reboot/soft reset your PPC. For WM5, do wait for a while before you soft reset because the system need some time to save the registry. WM6 don't have this problem, you can soft reset immediately.
You should able to see your emails and attachments. If not, double check the string and path your added in registry are match the dir you created in Step1.

p/s: I just perform these steps few days back after I hard reset my HTC Touch Elfin on Apr25, 2010. So I proved this is working for WM6.1!
